Thank you for your interest in Colibri Gallery. We are a contemporary art gallery that exhibits artwork by emerging to mid-career artists from the Bay Area and beyond. We are primarily interested in artwork that demonstrates strong attention to materiality, and has a fresh, authentic perspective that is not derivative of another artist’s work. In addition, the artwork we exhibit oftentimes has a deep connection to process which can be seen in the finished work. 

 

Before submitting a portfolio proposal, we encourage artists to visit the gallery to experience the type of work we exhibit and/or explore our catalogue of represented artists online. To be considered for gallery representation, all artists must submit a complete application as outlined below. All submissions take place through email. We do not conduct in-person / walk-in portfolio submissions.

Eligibility 

• Be at least 25 years old 

• While not a requirement, the majority of the artists we represent have obtained a BFA or MFA in studio art

• Must practice art professionally (vs. as a hobby)

• Have exhibited artwork in at least 5 national juried exhibitions 

• Have available work with a retail price under $5,000 

  

Portfolio Application Requirements  

Please include the following in your submission. 

• Professional Headshot 

• 4 images representing a cohesive body of work, created within the last 2 years, (2000 pixels on longest side) with artwork titles, medium, year, and retail price.

• A written explanation as to why you feel your work would be a good fit for Colibri Gallery

• Current art statement [300 - 500 words max] 

• Current Curriculum Vitae  

• Biography [150 - 300 words max] 

• Website URL

• Social Media profile handles

Please submit your portfolio to info@colibrigallery.com. We'll follow up with individuals on a case-by-case basis. If we're interested in moving forward we will get in touch with artists within 30 days after submission.
