Gallery Attendant

 

Job Types: Part-time

Hours: 14-21 hrs per week

Starting Pay: $20 per hour

Colibri Gallery is a community focused art gallery located downtown Morgan Hill, CA just south of San Jose. We are looking to hire a part-time Gallery Attendant to join our creative team, as soon as possible. The Gallery Attendant must be able to work weekends, assist with art workshops and events, carry out day-to-day operations of the gallery, be friendly when greeting visitors, and remain knowledgeable about the artists and artwork in the gallery. The ideal candidate will have a strong enthusiasm for art, be willing to learn, able to work solo, and stay organized.

 

In addition, the Gallery Attendant  will work closely with the Director to develop content to promote current and upcoming exhibitions, events, and workshops. They will help create and schedule marketing materials across the website, social media, and in newsletters.

 

Education / Experience

• Experience painting or drawing is a bonus

• 4 or more years of work experience. 

 

Role and Responsibilities:

• Greet visitors and converse about the artwork

• Assist with art sales

• Assist the Director in creation and scheduling content for marketing, publications and social media (including photography, videography, and writing)

• Inventory upkeep and artwork condition reports

• Assisting during events, exhibition openings, and art classes/workshops

• Assist with artwork installations and uninstallations

 

Skills and Qualifications

• Experience with social media, graphic design, and photography

• Confident written and verbal communication skills

• Knowledge and passion for art 

• Ability to multitask, problem solve, and work independently

• Capable of managing multiple competing priorities

• Experience using Adobe Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop, etc) and/or basic graphic design skills using Canva

• Curiosity to learn new skills and knowledge

 

Special Requirements:

• Ability to work Saturdays and evening hours as required. 

• Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand on your feet for prolonged periods of time

• Applicants must provide 2-3 professional references.

• Reliable transportation
