JoAnne Perez Robinson

Acrylic Painting

I was born and raised in San Carlos and I moved to Gilroy at age 18. Growing up no scrap of paper has ever been safe around me because I have loved to sketch and doodle since I could hold a crayon. I have always loved the way colors made me feel and I knew I wanted to be an artist.

I began my artistic education taking drawing classes. After my first watercolor class I got hooked on painting. Per the advice of my professor I entered my first show and won a ribbon. I started entering all the art shows I could and was encouraged as I won more ribbons. Over a decade later in 2006, I entered and won 1st place for the Gilroy Garlic Festival poster. Winning this competition gave me the confidence I needed to take the plunge to become a full-time painter. I started off by doing commissions through word of mouth, then I began painting on small canvases. I sold my work at festivals for many years and obtained many wonderful collectors.

I enjoy displaying and selling  my work at galleries, local shops and online. The past 3 years I have submitted work and have been accepted to the Studio Gallery in San Francisco. Twice a year, they solicit submissions from hundreds of bay area artists for shows such as “Tiny  Show” and “Delish Show.” I was honored to have my art chosen and to be a part of it again this year.
